UNF Health Administration
Student Association ByLaws

ARTICLE I
Section 1 Name:
The name of this organization is the University of North Florida Health Administration Student Association.
Section 2: Objectives
  The objectives upon which this chapter is organized are as follows:
  a) To promote educational development of skills necessary for the effective leadership in healthcare organizations.
  b) To provide information about career alternatives and job opportunities in the field of healthcare management.
  c) To develop an association with local and regional healthcare executive groups to enhance academic and career opportunities.
  d) To provide a method of involvement, recognition, and representation in the profession of healthcare management.
  e) To promote interaction among undergraduate and graduate students and faculty of the programs within the College of Health.
  f) To provide students and faculty in the Department of Public Health a forum for dialogue concerning the academic program and career planning.
  g) To inform members, potential members, and others in the community of the purposes of the UNF Health Administration Student Association, its goals, programs, and benefits, and reasons for advancing in status within the healthcare management profession -- this chapter thereby being a mechanism to exemplify and encourage pride in the profession of healthcare management.
Section 3: Program
The objectives of this organization shall be furthered through discussions with invited guests, seminars, projects, and other activities.
            
ARTICLE II
Status
The University of North Florida, UNF Health Administration Student Association shall be subject to the guidelines as they may be published from time to time
     
ARTICLE III
Membership
Section 1: Eligibility
  a) Full Membership.
Any full-time, part-time program student with interest in healthcare management shall be eligible for Full Membership status in the University of North Florida, UNF Health Administration Student Association.
  b)

Ex-Officio Membership.
Members of the chapter are eligible upon graduation for Ex-Officio Membership, provided they maintain good standing, and retain membership in the UNF Alumni Association.

  c) Honorary Membership.
Any person, except a regularly enrolled student, who, because of deep professional interest and an outstanding contribution to the UNF Health Administration Student Association shall be eligible to be elected an Honorary Member.
Section 2: Termination of Membership
Membership in the UNF Health Administration Student Association shall be terminated automatically if the member does not meet criteria established in Article III, Section 1.
   
ARTICLE IV
Meetings
The UNF Health Administration Student Association shall have a minimum of seven meetings per year during the academic year. Other meetings may be called as requested by the President.
     
ARTICLE V
Voting and Quorum
A quorum for the conduct of meetings shall be one-half of active voting members. Active members are defined as those who have paid dues in full. Any voting member may call for a quorum. Matters submitted to vote shall be determined by a majority. Only Full Members, as defined in Article III, section I (a), are eligible to participate in the voting process.
     
ARTICLE VI
Officers
Section 1: Composition and Election
UNF Health Administration Student Association officers shall be a President, Senior Vice-President, three Associate Vice Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer. They shall be elected from the quorum of Full Membership, as indicated in Article III, Section 1, during the Spring Semester.
  a) President. The president shall call and preside over all meetings, appoint all committees, serve as ex-officio member of all committees, and shall designate duties not provided for in the Bylaws.
  b) Senior Vice-President The Senior Vice-President shall assume-all duties of the President in the event of absence of the President, and shall carry out other duties as assigned by the President. In addition, the Senior Vice-President shall be responsible for recording membership in the UNF Health Administration Student Association. The Senior Vice President will also represent a segment of the health services industry and will work with an Advisory board liaison to develop an Association event highlighting that area..
  c) Associate Vice Presidents The Associate Vice Presidents will each represent a segment of the health services industry and will work with an Advisory board liaison to develop an Association event highlighting that area.
  d) Secretary. The Secretary shall handle all correspondence between the membership and other organizations and prepare reports as designated by the President.
  e) Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be responsible for all funds received and distributed by the UNF Health Administration Student Association, which includes record keeping of collections and expenditures. Disbursements shall require the authorization of the Treasurer and one other officer.
  f) Past President The Past President will hold a non-voting officer position to the UNF Health Administration Student Association. The Past President will serve as a link between the previous year's officers and the newly elected officers.
Section 2: Terms of Office
Chapter officers shall be elected for a period of one year, during the Spring Semester and ending in the Spring Semester of the following year. Vacancies shall be filled with a call for a special meeting of the membership.
     
ARTICLE VII
Amendments
Amendments to the bylaws of University of North Florida, Health Administration Student Association shall be proposed in writing to the officers. Notice of the proposed amendments shall be provided to members not less than two weeks prior to the meeting at which they will be considered for approval by membership.
